Dr. Kerri Glassner
Ep. 10: The Other Side of the Survival – To Bloom Again
What happens when life forces you to pause… to face your own mortality and come back forever changed?
Our guest today is Dr. Kerri Glassner — a brilliant gastroenterologist who specializes in inflammatory bowel disease… and also my dear friend from residency.
A few years ago, Kerri was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and often fatal bile duct cancer. As a GI doctor, she knew exactly what this diagnosis meant. But what followed was even more rare — she underwent a liver transplant, a procedure most patients with this cancer never qualify for. And somehow… she survived.
But Kerri didn’t just survive — she rebuilt. She reoriented how she lives, heals, and leads — as a doctor, a mother, a colleague, and a human being. This episode is about what it means to live differently after everything falls apart. To trust your body. To face hard truths. And to find unexpected strength in the space where control slips away. I'm so honored to welcome my friend, Dr. Kerri Glassner, to the show — this is the kind of conversation Open Heart was made for.
